| Eloise |
I am Eloise, I am six. |
| JB |
I am Janet, I’m not telling you. |
| Eloise |
I absolutely love, love, love the movie you made from my book. |
| JB |
Thank you Eloise. I absolutely love your book. It was one of my favorites growing up. |
| Eloise |
How did YOU get to write it? |
| JB |
Well, my agent called me… |
| Eloise |
What’s an agent? |
| JB |
Someone who finds me work. |
| Eloise |
Sounds rawther BORING. Hold on, Skipperdee needs a raisin. There. All right, so your agent called you… |
| JB |
And he told me that ABC television wanted me to write the teleplay for the TV movie. |
| Eloise |
Now, in the movie there’s a story about a Prince AND a debutante ball. |
| JB |
Yes. |
| Eloise |
Those stories aren’t in the book. |
| JB |
No, those storylines are original. |
| Eloise |
How did you come up with the idea for the Prince and the ball? I j’adore balls, by the way. |
| JB |
I was in New York visiting the Plaza hotel, getting ideas for the script. The woman who was giving me a tour of the hotel… |
| Eloise |
Did you see my suite? |
| JB |
Ah…no. |
| Eloise |
You wrote a movie based on my book and you didn’t see MY suite? |
| JB |
No. |
| Eloise |
I will have to talk with Mr. Salomone about that. Go on… |
| JB |
Anyhow, the woman giving me the tour told me that the Prince of Morocco had just checked out. That gave me the idea to have Eloise meet a Prince. |
| Eloise |
I have, you know. Met a prince…or two. |
| JB |
Really? |
| (Nanny enters the room.) |
| Nanny |
Eloise, Philip is waiting for you. |
| Eloise |
Philip is my tutor. I’m absolutely NOT finished with my interview. |
| Nanny |
Well, hurry hurry hurry. He doesn’t have all day. |
| Eloise |
All right. |
| (Nanny leaves.) |
| Eloise |
How did you come up with the idea for the debutante ball? |
| JB |
There was a picture in the book… |
| Eloise |
Aren’t they darling? That Hilary Knight. A man of absolute talent. He did all the illustrations, you know. |
| JB |
Yes. |
| Eloise |
AND he’s in the movie. |
| JB |
I know. |
| Eloise |
It’s very small part. Not, of course, as absolutely large as mine. |
| JB |
No. |
| Eloise |
I heard ABC is doing ANOTHER Eloise movie. |
| JB |
Yes, Eloise at Christmastime. |
| Eloise |
Did you write that too? |
| JB |
No, a very talented writer named Elizabeth Chandler wrote that one. It will be on ABC Television around Christmas. |
| Eloise |
What are you working on now? |
| JB |
Another Eloise movie: Eloise in Paris. |
| Eloise |
Your life is absolutely about me! Eloise! |
| JB |
It seems that way. |
| Eloise |
Well, I have to skibble. |
| JB |
To see Philip? |
| Eloise |
Oh my Lord no! I have absolutely so much else to do. First, I’m going to see Thomas in the Palm Court, then check my messages, then see what’s happening in the Oak Room….I absolutely love the Plaza! |
